Woodland wrestling runner-up at Cleveland Duals

The Woodland High School wrestling team finished second Saturday at the Cleveland (Tenn.) Duals.
The Wildcats won four straight duals to reach the finals. The wins were over Knoxville Catholic (84-0), Summit (Tenn.) (36-27), Bradley Central (Tenn.) (43-33), and Huntsville (Ala.) (41-33),
Host Cleveland High defeated Woodland in the finals, 50-21.
The top individuals for Woodland were Adrian Zapata (4-0 at 126 pounds), John Gill (3-0 at 215), Dylan Couey (3-1 at 138), Christian Cothran (3-1 at 175), Owen Jones (3-1 at 190), and Zachary Wallace (2-1 at 165).
Next on the Woodland schedule is the Pelham (Ala.) Duals on Friday and Saturday.
CASS AND CARTERSVILLE WRESTLING RESULTS AT SMOKY MOUNTAIN DUALS
The Cass High and Cartersville High wrestling teams competed this past weekend at the Smoky Mountain Duals in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Cass finished 4-2 in dual matches, while Cartersville finished 4-3.
The Colonels picked up wins over St. Newmann Catholic (Fla.) (39-33), Martin (Ky.) (53-21), Seymour (Tenn.) (54-18), and Pigeon Forge (Tenn.) (55-19). The Cass losses were to Grundy (Va.) (42-29) and Johnson Central (Ky.) 52-26).
The Canes had team wins over Wayne County (Ky.) (54-27), Anderson County (Tenn.) (40-37), Heritage (Tenn.) (59-24), and Martin (Ky.) (48-29). Cartersville lost to Lakeway Christian Academy (Tenn.) (57-23), Cabell Midland (W.Va.) (43-31), and St. Newmann Catholic (Fla.) (42-33).
Top individual performers for Cass included Hunter Barrett (5-0 at 120 and 126), Aidan Piatt (5-0 at 150 and 157), and Kirecg Roe (5-1 at 190).
The top individuals for Cartersville were Talan Nix (6-0 at 150), Cole Henson (6-1 at 157), and Jair Flores (4-1 at 113).
Next on the Cartersville schedule is the Clash at the Creek Duals on Friday and Saturday at Coahulla Creek. Cass will host the Guerrilla Duals on Saturday.
TIGERS GRAPPLE AT McCALLIE INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT
On Saturday, the Adairsville High School wrestling team placed 16th of 31 teams at the McCallie Invitational Tournament in Chattanooga.
The host McCallie School won the tournament with 240.5 points. Brentwood (Tenn) was second with 170 points, and Christian Brothers (Tenn.) was third with 163.5. Adairsville scored 78 team points.
Jett Johnson finished 4-0 in the tournament and won the 285-pound weight class. Five other Tigers were 2-2 in their bouts, including Braxton Elrod (132-pounds), Hunter Dudley (150), Jay Chancey (165), David Coon (175), and Hayden Bailey (190).
The Tigers return to action on Saturday at the Guerrilla Duals hosted by Cass.
