Woodland girls first, boys third at Kennesaw Mountain Invitational

The Woodland girls finished first and the Woodland boys were third Saturday at the 6th annual Big Peach Mustang Stampede hosted by Kennesaw Mountain High School at Allatoona Creek Park in Acworth.

The Lady Cats had all five runners finish in the top 12 of 89 participants to win with 35 points. Lovett was runner-up with 81 points and Creekview finished third in the 11-team race with 88 points.

Woodland’s Rylee Evans won the 5k race in 19:46. She was followed by teammates Olivia Berry (3rd, 20:29), Emma Segars (8th, 20:41), Miranda Pelow (11th, 21:01), and Danielle Thayer (12th, 21:12).

Creekview won the 12-team boys race with 46 points followed by Lovett (62), Woodland (89), Pickens (114) and Dalton (123)

Tyler Jones (16:31) of Woodland finished fourth of 109 runners. McKinley Chappell (16:46) was sixth. Kain Tanturri (22nd, 17:49), John Forsyth (27th, 17:58), and Landon McSwain (30th, 18:05) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats.

Next for Woodland is the Wire2Wire Invitational at Dellinger Park next Saturday.
