Tigers third, Wildcats fifth at annual Whoville Swimming Invitational

The Adairsville High School swimming team placed third, and Woodland was fifth this past Saturday at the 14-team Whoville Invitational hosted by the Tigers.


Greenbrier won the meet with an overall total of 709.5 points. McIntosh (581), Adairsville (557), Rome (542), and Woodland (490.5) rounded out the top five.


Adairsville’s boys had the highest point total, edging McIntosh 397-343.5. Woodland’s girls finished second behind Greenbrier in the women’s point totals.


Three local relay teams earned GHSA State Meet qualifying times. The Adairsville boys 400-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay teams and the Woodland boys 200-yard freestyle relay team.


Top three finishes for Adairsville and Woodland:


First Place

Adairsville boys 400-yard freestyle relay — Gabriel Greenway, Finnley Minhinnett, Eli Burke, and Brayden Rizer (State Qualifying Time - 3:39.91)

Boys 500-yard freestyle — Finnley Minhinnett, Adairsville (5:28.31)


Second Place

Adairsville Boys 200-yard freestyle relay — Gabriel Greenway, Grayson McKinney, Finnley Minhinnett, and Brayden Rizer (State Qualifying Time - 1:38.95)

Boys 100-yard butterfly — Gabriel Greenway, Adairsville (58.91)

Boys 500-yard freestyle — Brayden Rizer, Adairsville (6:06.71)


Third Place

Woodland boys 200-yard freestyle relay — Isaiah Muriel, Kaleb Dennis, Isaac Muriel, and Grayson Moore (State Qualifying Time - 1:39.40)

Adairsville competes next at the Northwest Georgia Championship at Calhoun High School on January 11. Woodland returns to Adairsville on January 18 for the Paw Power Meet.
