Tigers, Lady Tigers earn spots in Class AAA state tennis tournament

The Adairsville High School tennis teams finished fourth in the Region 7-AAA tournament in Calhoun on Wednesday, earning spots in the GHSA state tournament next week.
The Lady Tigers defeated Gilmer 3-1 in the opening round to secure their state tournament berth. The Adairsville girls lost to Calhoun 1-3 in the semifinals and Northwest Whitfield 1-3 in the third-place match.
The Tigers defeated Gilmer 3-1 in the first round on Wednesday, lost to Calhoun 0-3 in the semifinals, and fell to Northwest Whitfield 1-3 in the region’s third-place match.
The Adairsville teams will open the state tournament on the road. The opponents for the Tigers and Lady Tigers will be determined later in the week.
