Sexauer banks 200th coaching win; Adairsville soccer teams blank Murray County

The Adairsville girls’ and boys’ soccer teams shut out the visiting Murray County Indians on Friday night in Tigers Stadium.

The Adairsville girls’ soccer team rolled to an 8-0 home victory over Murray County on Friday night, handing head coach David Sexauer his 200th coaching win.


The Lady Tigers scored six goals in the first half to take a commanding lead and played the entire roster in the second half.


Alexa Damer scored two goals and had two assists in the first half. Ella Edwards also finished with two goals in the opening half. Samantha Gough and Alivia Joslin added first-half goals, while Braylynn Martin contributed three assists.


In the second half, Alyssa Lawson scored on a penalty kick in the 56th minute. Lily McCormick added a late goal off an assist from Cadyn Hartline.


The Lady Tigers (4-0) play at Gordon Central on Wednesday.

The Tigers scored one goal in each half Friday night and kept Murray County off the scoreboard for a 2-0 non-region home victory.


Carlos Limones put Adairsville on the board in the 21st minute off an assist from Fletcher Silvers. The 1-0 lead held until late in the second half when Limones found the net again in the 70th minute. Juan Amnesty assisted with the Tigers’ insurance goal.


Adairsville goalkeeper Charlie Potter was credited with 20 saves.


“It was a complete victory,” said Adairsville coach Jason McGuire following the win. “I’m very proud of the hard work and dedication of the group. The Tigers rallied together and maintained their composure throughout the match.”


Adairsville (3-1) returns to the pitch on Wednesday at Gordon Central.
