Nelson tosses a no-hitter for Adairsville; Wildcats defeat Dominion Christian

After dropping the first game of the series on Tuesday at Gilmer, the Adairsville Tigers easily dispatched the Bobcats at home on Wednesday, 15-0, in four innings behind pitcher Jack Nelson’s no-hitter.
Nelson faced only two batters over the minimum (two walks) and struck out five.
The Tigers posted seven runs in the bottom of the first inning as the first seven batters reached base. Jarrett Scott hit a two-run homer in the inning and Adairsville had half of the game’s base hits in the frame.
Brody Varner (two RBI), Ethan Long (two RBI), and Nelson had three hits. Peyton Bowen (two RBI), Braxton Ryan (RBI), Isaac Burnett (RBI), and Hayden Miller (RBI) added one hit. Scott contributed three RBI. Evan Hardin and Matthew Cook added one RBI each.
Adairsville (7-5, 2-3) concludes the three-game region series at Gilmer (4-8, 1-4) on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
WOODLAND 9, DOMINION CHRISTIAN 2

Lucas Baker had three hits, drove in three runs, and pitched a scoreless inning Wednesday evening to help lead the Woodland Wildcats to a 9-2 non-region win over visiting Dominion Christian.
Woodland scored in five of six offensive frames and produced a dozen hits in the victory.
Austin Daves (1.2 IP, 0R, 1H, 2BB, 4K) started on the bump for the Wildcats, struck out four of the eight batters he faced, and was credited with the pitching win. Zaylen Cochran (1.1 IP, 0R, 1H, 2BB, 1K), Grant Tidwell (2 IP, 2R, 1ER, 3H, 0BB, 1K), Baker (1 IP, 0R, 1H), and Kallen Reynolds (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1K) pitched in relief.
Conner Lujan (double, RBI) also had three hits for the Wildcats. Ben Turcotte finished with two hits, including a double. Alfredo Romo (RBI), Jake Clowers, Eduardo Romo, and Tommy Risner added one hit. Preston Sorrells drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
With the loss, the Knights slipped to a 5-3 record.
Woodland (8-4, 2-2) returns to Region 7-4A action on Friday with a home doubleheader against Southeast Whitfield.
