Lady Tigers edge North Murray to win region tournament opener


Haley Stiles scored 15 points Saturday as the Adairsville Lady Tigers outlasted North Murray 44-42 to advance at the Region 6-AAA Tournament.

The 8th-seeded Adairsville girls opened post-season play Saturday night at LaFayette with a 44-42 play-in round win over No. 9-seed North Murray at the Region 6-AAA Tournament.


The Adairsville win completed a rare high school back-to-back sweep. The Lady Tigers defeated North Murray Friday night in both teams' regular season finale' 43-35.


The Lady Mountaineers led 25-18 at halftime, but Adairsville outscored North Murray 15-4 in the third quarter to carry a 33-29 lead into the final period.


The Lady Tigers then held on in the final eight minutes to advance with a two-point tournament victory.


Haley Stiles paced Adairsville with 15 points. Lexie Childers followed with 11. Ya’Torrean Hale scored seven points and Alissa Winters added six for the Lady Tigers.


Ava Robinette led North Murray (6-18) with 11 points. Bayleigh Winkler and Janna Baggett finished with 10 points each.


Adairsville (12-13) plays again Monday night at 7:30 p.m. against No. 5-seed Coahulla Creek (10-15).


The complete Region 6-AAA Tournament is being hosted by LaFayette High School.
