GHC softball wins two at East Georgia State

The Georgia Highlands College softball team won both games of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at East Georgia State. The Lady Chargers won the opening game 7-3 and took the second game 7-1.


Georgia Highlands had a pair of freshman left-handed pitchers toss complete games in the two victories.


Jaycie Hand pitched all seven innings in the opening win scattering ten hits and three walks to allow three runs. She struck out eight.


Rena Fraga tossed seven complete innings in the Game 2 win limiting the Bobcats to six hits and two walks. Fraga struck out two.

Madison Dennis led the Chargers’ offense with five hits on the day including a double and three RBIs. Brady Tharp and Annsley Todd followed with three hits each. Tharp homered, doubled, and drove in two runs. Todd had one RBI.


Malone Aldridge, Abigail Lathrop (RBI), Avery Fisher, Allison Deweese, Sydney Goddard (double, two RBIs), Audrey Johnson (three RBIs), and Jordan Blair (double) added one hit apiece.


Tuesday’s two losses dropped East Georgia to 8-17-1 on the season and 4-6 in conference play.

Georgia Highlands (18-24, 12-8) will host Motlow State CC next Monday in a non-conference doubleheader.
