Georgia Highlands College softball split a doubleheader Thursday night at conference-leader Georgia Military College.
The host Bulldogs won the first game 1-0, but the Chargers took the second game 9-6. It was the first conference loss of the year for Georgia Military.
Hayden Joyner tossed a two-hitter for GHC in the loss and allowed just one unearned run. However, she suffered the tough-luck pitching loss and had one strikeout.
Emma Darrow and Ahmani Green had the only Chargers’ base hits in the opener.
Maci Andrews (1 IP, 2ER, 2H, 1BB), Avery Hudson (2.1 IP, 2R, 1ER, 3H, 0BB), and Joyner (3.2 IP, 2R, 0ER, 3H, 0BB) shared the pitching duties in the Georgia Highlands win.
Mary Catherine Kimball (home run, four RBI) led the GHC offense in Game 2 with three hits. Joyner (two RBI) and Darrow (RBI) produced two hits. Abbi Hall (RBI), Andrews (RBI), Green, and Abbey Yates added one hit.
Georgia Highlands (30-14, 11-5) hosts East Georgia State in a conference doubleheader next Thursday.
