GHC softball extends winning streak
The Georgia Highlands Chargers softball team swept a home, conference doubleheader over Andrew College Saturday and extended its current win streak to six games.
The Chargers topped the Tigers 8-6 in Saturday’s first game and pulled out a 14-13 extra inning win in Game 2.
Jaycie Hand (8 IP, 3K), Emma Veitch (5 IP, 3K), and Rena Fraga (2 IP) shared the pitching responsibilities in the doubleheader.
Audrey Johnson had six hits on the day including a pair of doubles, two home runs, and seven RBIs. Malone Aldridge followed with a five-hit day that included a double. Allison Deweese homered three times and finished with seven RBIs. Brady Tharp finished with three hits including a walk-off homer in the second game, a double, and three RBIs while Madison Dennis drove in a pair of runs with her three hits on the day.
Georgia Highlands (8-14, 2-0 GCAA) has another home, conference doubleheader Tuesday with East Georgia State CC. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
