Diamond Lady Tigers win fourth straight; Lady Canes and Lady Colonels collect region wins

LOCAL SOFTBALL ROUNDUP -- THURSDAY and SATURDAY




The Adairsville Lady Tigers have won four straight games after sweeping Gilmer on Thursday and taking a doubleheader from Armuchee on Saturday.


Adairsville blanked Gilmer on Thursday night to complete a region series sweep with the Bobcats this week.


The Lady Tigers added to an early 2-0 lead with a four-run fourth inning to take control of the game. 


Adairsville outhit Gilmer in the contest, nine to two.


Brie Patterson had two hits against Gilmer including a double. Riley Mounger and Lily Roberts also had two hits each.


Ashlyn Carlton collected Thursday’s pitching win with a seven-inning shutout. She allowed just two hits and one walk while fanning eleven.


On Saturday, the Lady Tigers swept Armuchee in a doubleheader 14-8 and 13-6.


Pitchers Jordan Clay (7 IP, 8R, 4ER, 11H, 4BB, 8K) and Maddie Baggett (7 IP, 6R, 4ER, 7H, 3BB, 3K) tossed complete games to earn wins.


Ansley Powell, Roberts, and Taylor Evans had two hits in the opening game on Saturday.


Roberts had four hits and three RBI in Game 2. Alivia Joslin followed with three hits. Patterson and Mounger both added two hits including a double and three RBI each.


Adairsville (8-5, 2-4) hosts Southeast Whitfield for a non-region game on Monday.




CARTERSVILLE 9, CEDARTOWN 1


The Lady Canes broke open a 1-1 game with three runs in the fourth inning and five more in the sixth to beat visiting Cedartown on Thursday, 9-1, in six innings.


Zoie Shiflett tossed all six innings in the circle allowing just three hits. The lone run was unearned and she issued no walks but did not record a strikeout.


Allana Williams (three RBI) and Reese Dumas (double, RBI) led the Lady Canes’ offense with two hits.


Cartersville (9-2, 7-0) will look to extend a five-game win streak on Tuesday at home against Dalton at 5:30 p.m. 




CASS 8, DALTON 0


Cass snapped a two-game skid on Thursday evening at home with an 8-0 region victory over Dalton. Cass scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning and added two more in the fourth to win in five innings.


Kylie Gentry allowed just two hits and two walks in the circle. She struck out seven.


Molli Morrow (double, four RBI) and Sydney Satterfield (double, RBI) led the Lady Colonels’ offense.


Cass (6-4, 4-3) hosts Woodland on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.




ALLATOONA 12, WOODLAND 0


The host Lady Buccaneers pounded 13 hits in four innings and blanked Woodland on Thursday, 12-0.


Bailey Ryan, Kamryn Smith, Ashlyn Baines, and Mackenzie Araya had the only Lady Cats’ hits — all singles.


Smith (3.1 IP, 12R, 11ER, 13H, 6BB, 1K) was the Woodland pitcher of record.


The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Lady Cats.


Woodland (3-5, 3-4) visits Cass on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
