Colonels sweep at Unity Christian; Canes defeat Trion

The Cass basketball teams swept games at Unity Christian in Rome on Saturday, and the Cartersville boys added a home win over Trion.
CASS GIRLS 49, UNITY CHRISTIAN 27
The Lady Colonels took control of their game at Unity Christian on Saturday afternoon by outscoring the host Lady Lions 14-4 in the third quarter.
Cass led 18-15 at halftime and extended that margin to 32-19 by the end of the third period en route to a 22-point non-region win.
KK Evans scored 14 points for Cass. Anizah Taylor finished with 10 points, and Cadie Paez added nine for the Lady Colonels.
Anna Grace Wells led Unity Christian (1-5) with 12 points.
Cass (6-5, 3-1) returns to region play on Tuesday, hosting Dalton at 6 p.m.
CASS BOYS 66, UNITY CHRISTIAN 40
The Colonels built a 30-11 lead by halftime and cruised to a 66-40 non-region win Saturday at Unity Christian in Rome.
Xavier Lowe paced the Colonels with 12 points. Derrick Sams and Jah’lil Anderson finished with 10 points. Da’mir McBride added seven for Cass.
Andrew Sawyer scored 12 points for the host Lions (1-7).
Cass (5-6, 2-2) hosts region-foe Dalton on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
CARTERSVILLE BOYS 55, TRION 43
Wyatt Thomason and Will Bishop scored 18 and 17 points to lead the Hurricanes in a 55-43 home win Saturday over Trion. Shakai Taylor added eight points for Cartersville.
The Canes led 25-22 at halftime and 39-29 after three quarters in their eventual 12-point win.
Austin Cornett led Trion (2-2) with 18 points. Sam Mobbs scored 12 and Ashton Mason 11 points for the Bulldogs.
Cartersville (5-3, 2-2) hosts Southeast Whitfield in a region contest on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
