Colonels cruise to region win at Hiram

Camden Hillhouse scored three goals and assisted on another as the Cass boys soccer team won at Hiram Friday night, 10-1.

Christian Villella scored a goal and assisted on three more as the Colonels won at Hiram Friday night, 10-1.

The Colonels built a 4-0 lead by the intermission and added to their lead in the second half.


Christian Villella scored a goal and assisted on three scores. Juan Pajarito contributed one goal and one assist. Carlos Morales, Grayson Dysart, Kayden Pineda, Jose Rodriguez, and Jordan Solis added one goal apiece. Alex Hernandez assisted on three of the scores.


The loss dropped Hiram to 0-8-1 on the season and 0-2 in Region 7-AAAAA.


The Colonels (8-3-1, 2-1) host a non-region match with North Murray Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. before traveling to Blessed Trinity Friday for a key region game with the Titans at 5:30 p.m.




HIRAM 3, CASS GIRLS 0

The Lady Hornets scored twice in the opening half and added an insurance goal in the second half to defeat visiting Cass Friday night, 3-0.


The win for the Hiram girls (1-10, 1-1) was their first of the season.


The Lady Colonels (2-8-1, 0-3) play North Murray at home Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and travel to Blessed Trinity for a 7:30 p.m. Friday night.




CALHOUN SOCCER TEAMS SWEEP WOODLAND FOR REGION WINS


The Calhoun girls and boys soccer teams both shut out their opponents from Woodland Friday night in Region 7-AAAAA games.

The Calhoun girls defeated the Lady Cats 2-0 and the Calhoun boys blanked the Wildcats, 3-0.

The Lady Jackets improved to 4-5-1 overall and 2-1 in region play. The Yellow Jackets are now 3-6-1 overall and also 2-1 in the region.

The Woodland girls (5-4-2, 1-2) play at Kennesaw Mountain Tuesday in a 6 p.m. match and will host Cartersville Friday at 5:30 p.m.

The Woodland boys (5-4-2, 1-2) return to their home pitch Friday night against local region rival Cartersville at 7 p.m.

BLESSED TRINITY BLANKS CARTERSVILLE TEAMS

The Cartersville girls and boys soccer teams lost Region 7-AAAAA matchups at Blessed Trinity Friday night. The Lady Canes were shut out 10-0 and the Cartersville boys were blanked 9-0.


The Blessed Trinity girls improved to 10-1-1 overall and 3-0 in region play. The Titans’ boys team improved to 6-6 overall and 3-0 in the region.


The Cartersville girls (3-7-1, 1-1) and boys (5-6-1, 0-2) have two region matches this week. The Hurricanes host Hiram Tuesday and play at Woodland Friday.
