Chattanooga State sweeps Chargers

Georgia Highlands College softball lost both games of a home doubleheader on Friday, falling to the Chattanooga State CC Tigers 9-3 and 14-0.
Chattanooga State posted four runs across the first two innings of the opener before the Chargers cut the Tigers’ advantage to 5-3 in the fifth. The visitors sealed the game by scoring four runs in the top of the sixth inning.
In the second game, Chattanooga State took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, and that score remained until the Tigers scored six runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth. Chattanooga State pounded out sixteen hits in Game 2.

Four GHC pitchers saw action in the circle on Friday. The first game was started by Hayden Joyner (1.1 IP, 5H, 4R, 3ER, 0BB, 1K). Maci Andrews (3.1 IP, 9H, 8ER, 2BB, 1K) started the second game. Those two hurlers were charged with pitching losses. Hannah Mounce (4.1 IP, 9H, 8ER, 2BB) and Grace Kendrick (3 IP, 5H, 3R, 2ER, 1K).
Ahmani Green finished with three hits for the Chargers in the doubleheader. Haylee Dishmon, Andrews (two RBI), Athens Hudson (RBI), and Abbi Hall had two hits. Kendrick and Emma Darrow added one hit on the day.
Chattanooga State improved to 12-5.
Georgia Highlands (18-4) begins conference play on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Andrew College in Cuthbert.
