Chargers sweep Tigers in conference doubleheader

Georgia Highlands baseball swept a conference doubleheader on Friday at Andrew College, winning 9-8 and 10-2.
The Chargers led 4-1 through two innings in the opener, but the Tigers knotted the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth. From there, GHC posted three runs in the fifth inning and two in the sixth to take a 9-5 lead. Andrew rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh and had the bases loaded when Chargers’ pitcher Braxton Wade escaped the frame with a strikeout.
Jackson Greer (2.2 IP, 4R, 3ER, 6H, 3BB, 4K) was credited with the pitching win in relief of starter Andrew Arnold (4 IP, 4ER, 7H, 0BB, 6K).
Game 2 was a much easier win for the Chargers.
Kaiden Krak (5 IP, 1R, 0ER, 1BB, 8K) was the GHC starting pitcher, and Nickolaus Kane (2 IP, 1ER, 2H, 1BB, 3K) closed the final two innings.
Kenskey Thomas had four hits in the doubleheader, including a home run, one double, and four RBI.
Ali Banks (three doubles, one RBI), Ryan Martin (home run, double, three RBI), Wyatt Gatlin (home run, five RBI), Andrew Bishop, and Grayson Godbee contributed three hits on the day. Caden Marcos (two RBI) produced two hits, and Joe Johnson (two RBI) added one hit.
The losses dropped Andrew College to 20-8 overall and 1-2 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association standings.
Georgia Highlands (18-4, 2-1) visits Gordon State on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. conference doubleheader.
