Chargers softball wins two at South Georgia State

Georgia Highlands College softball won both games of a conference doubleheader at South Georgia State on Friday. The Chargers won 10-3 and 11-4 in Waycross.


In the opening game, GHC pitcher Grace Kendrick (7 IP, 3ER, 7H, 1BB, 3K) went the distance in the circle. Hurlers Athens Hudson (2.2 IP, 3R, 2ER, 6H, 1BB, 1K) and Maci Andrews (4.1 IP, 1ER, 4H, 3BB, 1K) combined in Game 2.


Emma Darrow led the Chargers’ offense with six hits in the doubleheader. Abbi Hall (triple, double, two RBI), Emmalee Freeman (three doubles, three RBI), and Hayden Joyner (double, two RBI) had four hits.


Faith Gauthier (RBI) and Mary Catherine Kimball contributed two hits. Abbey Yates (three RBI), Ahmani Green (double, RBI), Haylee Dishmon (RBI), and Andrews added one hit. Hudson produced one RBI with a sacrifice fly.


The losses left the Hawks 13-25 overall. South Georgia State is 2-8 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association.


Georgia Highlands (22-12, 3-3) plays a doubleheader at East Georgia State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
