Chargers' softball swept at Chattanooga State

Georgia Highlands College softball lost both games of a doubleheader on Wednesday at Chattanooga State CC, falling 8-2 and 6-0.


In Game 1, the Chargers led 2-1 through two innings but the host Tigers took the lead for good with a five-run third inning.


Hannah Mounce (3.1 IP, 4ER, 3H, 0BB) was tagged with the GHC pitching loss in the opener in relief of starter Grace Kendrick (2 IP, 4ER, 4H, 1BB, 1K). Ahmani Green (0.2 IP, 0R, 0H, 1BB) retired the final two outs in the sixth.


In Game 2, Chattanooga State hurler Olivia Steinorth shutout the Chargers with a two-hitter. She struck out eleven.


Green (6 IP, 6ER, 9H, 0BB) was the pitcher of record for GHC.


Abbi Hall had three hits for the Chargers in the doubleheader. Hayden Joyner had one hit with one RBi. Mary Catherine Kimball and Green added one hit. Athens Hudson contributed one RBI.


Chattanooga State improved to 19-6 and completed a four-game season sweep of the Chargers.


Georgia Highlands (19-7) begins Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association conference play on Saturday at Gordon State in a doubleheader slated for a 1 p.m. start.
