Chargers' softball splits games at USC Union

Georgia Highlands College softball split a doubleheader on Saturday at USC Union. The Chargers won 10-1 and lost an 8-7 extra-inning decision to the Bantams.


Hayden Joyner pitched all five innings of the Chargers’ win. She allowed one earned run on four hits and three walks while striking out four.


Three GHC pitchers took the circle in Game 2. Maci Andrews (5 IP, 4R, 2ER, 7H, 0BB, 1K) worked the first five innings. Avery Hudson (1.1 IP, 3R, 1ER, 2H, 0BB, 1K) and Grace Kendrick (1.1 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 2K) pitched in relief.


Ahmani Green had four hits, including two triples and three RBI, to lead the GHC bats. Haylee Dishmon (double), Mary Catherine Kimball (RBI), and Abbi Hall (RBI) had three hits. Andrews (home run, four RBI) and Faith Gauthier (two RBI) finished with two hits in the doubleheader. Hudson (solo home run), Emmalee Freeman (double, RBI), Raeghan Thompson (three RBI), Warren (RBI), and Joyner added one hit for the Chargers.


The doubleheader split left USC Union with a 7-13 record.


Georgia Highlands (19-5) has a doubleheader on Thursday at Chattanooga State CC.
