Chargers softball extends win streak to five

The Georgia Highlands College softball team extended its winning streak to five games on Saturday with two GCAA conference wins at East Georgia State.
The Chargers won the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader 10-2 and captured the second game 12-5.
Hayden Joyner went the distance in the circle to collect the pitching victory in the opener. She went all seven innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks while recording seven strikeouts.
Maci Andrews (1.2 IP, 4R, 0ER, 3H, 1BB) started the second game, and Athens Hudson (5.1 IP, 1ER, 3H, 2BB, 1K) entered in the second inning and finished the game in the circle.
Emmalee Freeman (four doubles, four RBI), Abbi Hall (two doubles, triple, two RBI), and Emma Darrow led the Chargers’ offense with five hits. Faith Gauthier (three RBI) and Mary Catherine Kimball (double, two RBI) finished the doubleheader with three hits. Hailey Love contributed two hits. Ahmani Green (double, two RBI), Haylee Dishmon (double), and Joyner added one hit. Hudson drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Abbey Yates had one RBI.
East Georgia State slipped to 5-21 overall and 2-6 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association’s conference standings.
GHC (24-12, 3-3) will host a conference doubleheader with Andrew College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
