Chargers drop two at Wallace State-Hanceville

Georgia Highlands softball dropped both games of a doubleheader Tuesday at Wallace State-Hanceville CC by an identical 8-0 score.
The Chargers and Lions went scoreless in the opening game through three innings before Wallace State scored one run in the fourth, five in the fifth, and two more runs in the sixth.
Georgia Highlands managed only two hits in Game 1. Emma Darrow tripled to start the Chargers' fourth inning and was stranded. Faith Gauthier began the top of the sixth inning with a double.
Game 2 was similarly close through three innings, but the Lions broke it open with a three-run fourth inning and three runs in the sixth.
Athens Hudson, Hailey Love, Raeghan Thompson, Darrow, and Gauthier had one hit each for GHC in the second game.
Hayden Joyner (4.2 IP, 6R, 5ER, 6H, 2BB, 5K) and Grace Kendrick (0.2 IP, 2ER, 2H) shared the Chargers’ pitching duties in the opener. Hudson (3 IP, 4R, 3ER, 3H, 2BB, 1K), Maci Andrews (1.1 IP, 1ER, 3H, 1BB), and Hannah Mounce (1.1 IP, 3ER, 4H, 1BB) pitched in Game 2.
The Lions improved to 25-6 this season.
Georgia Highlands (19-11) returns to conference play on Saturday at home against Georgia Military College.
