Cass volleyball splits non-region matches Thursday night

The Cass volleyball team split a pair of non-region matches Thursday night in Ellijay. The Colonels outlasted Murray County 27-25 and 25-23 but lost a tough three-set contest with host Gilmer.

The host Bobcats won the opening set 26-24 before Cass took the second set 25-19. Gilmer won the tie-breaker third set, 15-7.

Alondra Burgos had six kills in the match against Gilmer. Carson Brannon added 15 assists.

Tamira Feanny finished with five blocks in the doubleheader for the Colonels.

Cass (9-14-1, 0-2) plays at Woodland Tuesday and will also face Calhoun in another region match.
