Cass softball season ends with a loss

Braelyn Franklin had two hits and two RBIs Thursday in the Colonels' loss to North Cobb Christian.

Cass softball lost its final game of the 2023 season to North Cobb Christian Thursday night in extra innings at the Cass athletic complex.

The Lady Colonels rallied in the bottom of the seventh for two runs that sent the game into an extra frame but it was the Eagles who pushed a run across in the eighth to win 7-6.

Braelyn Franklin (double, two RBIs) and Cayce Brown (RBI) led the Cass offense with two hits each. Bailey York (triple, two RBIs), Reese Howard, Harlee Thomason, KK Evans, and Autumn Smith added one hit apiece for the Lady Colonels.

Emma Gibson (8 IP, 7R, 6ER, 10H, 5BB, 3K) went the distance in the circle for the locals.

North Cobb Christian improved to 21-6-1 with their win.

Cass closes the door on its season with a 9-18 mark.
