Cartersville volleyball team wins its 18th consecutive Bartow County title

The Cartersville High volleyball team won the annual Bartow County Volleyball Championship Tournament on Saturday at Adairsville, marking the Lady Canes' 18th straight win.

In the first elimination match, Woodland beat Cass, while Cartersville defeated Adairsville, guaranteeing the Lady Canes a spot in the championship match.


Adairsville then topped Woodland 25-13 and 27-25 in an elimination match to earn a rematch with Cartersville in the championship round.


Cartersville won the final match over the Lady Tigers 25-12 and 25-10.



Holly Dufrene led the Cartersville attack in the final match with 11 kills. Addison Marisko had four. Riley Huff and Shelby Mayo added three kills. Marisko totaled four blocks. McKenzie Wilkie contributed four aces and 11 digs. Aurbree Barrett led the Lady Canes with nine assists.


Addie Pearson had 12 service receptions and 13 digs for the Lady Tigers.


The Lady Canes (18-6, 4-0) host Cedartown and Blessed Trinity on Tuesday in the Storm Center as they return to Region 7-4A play. The match with the Lady Titans will be a non-region contest.


Adairsville (9-15, 2-2) plays at Northwest Whitfield on Tuesday and will also face Gilmer.


Cass (3-10, 0-3) hosts region foes Dalton and Southeast Whitfield on Tuesday, while Woodland (3-16, 0-3) visits Hiram for region matches. The Lady Cats will also square off with Allatoona.




EXCEL CHRISTIAN FALLS TO OAKWOOD CHRISTIAN


The Excel Christian Academy volleyball team dropped a best-of-five home match on Friday night to Oakwood Christian in three sets, 6-25, 10-25, and 14-25.


The Eagles slipped to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in GAPPS D-I, Region 1.
