Cartersville soccer teams defeat Dawson County

The Cartersville girls and boys soccer teams both defeated visiting Dawson County Friday night at Weinman Stadiium.

The Lady Canes won 3-1 and the Hurricanes blanked the Tigers, 8-0.

Hattie Williams had the Lady Canes’ first goal and assisted on another as the Cartersville girls improved to 3-1-1. Ava Flemons scored off the Williams assist to make the score 2-0. Ansley Holton added the third Cartersville goal off an assist from Jocelen Fernandez.

The Lady Canes travel to Bremen Tuesday.

The Cartersville boys cruised to an 8-0 win later in the evening.

The Canes (4-1) scored four goals in the opening 20 minutes to take control of the game early.

Giovanni Jacobo scored three goals for Cartersville in the win. Keeper Leo Betancourt earned the shutout in goal.
