Cartersville gymnastics second at home meet

The Cartersville High gymnastics team finished second of five teams last Saturday in a home meet held at the Cartersville Twisters facility.
The Canes, with 105.45 points, finished less than one point behind the meet winner North Atlanta (106.2). Allatoona (102.2), River Ridge (78.85), and Woodstock (48) rounded out the meet scoring. All participating teams were in Class 6A. Cartersville is a Class 5A school.
Cartersville senior Ava Poole finished third in the All Around with a score of 36.0. She was first on floor with a 9.4, fourth on beam (9.25), and fifth on bars (8.95).
Karley Garrison, also a senior, placed fourth All Around with 35.65 points. She was third on beam (9.4).
Both Poole and Garrison produced state meet qualifying scores.
Other members of the Cartersville team this year are Alyson Dunn (senior), Emerie Elrod (sophomore), Arabella Kilgore (freshman), and Averie Brotherton (freshman).
The Canes host their next meet at Cartersville Twisters on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
