Cartersville, Cass volleyball in action on Saturday

The Cass Lady Colonels’ volleyball team finished 2-2 on Saturday at the Rockmart Invitational tournament.


Cass had wins over Callaway (25-12, 25-14) and Gaylesville, AL (25-12, 25-7), but lost to Rockmart (18-25, 10-25) and South Paulding (21-25, 13-25).


The Lady Colonels (3-5) host Hiram for a region match on Tuesday at 5 p.m.



CARTERSVILLE WINS TWO OF THREE


The Lady Canes (11-5) won matches on Saturday at the Calhoun Tournament over Sonoraville (25-14, 25-7) and West Forsyth (25-18, 27-25) but also dropped a three-set match with West Forsyth (21-25, 25-16, 9-15).


In the win over Sonoraville, Riley Huff had seven kills and five blocks. Amara Ejieke finished with six kills. Addison Marisko had five kills and Aubree Barrett totaled 11 assists.


In the win over West Forsyth, Ejieke had nine kills. Huff contributed six kills and six blocks. Holly Dufrene produced five kills. Sydney McNair-Seigler had three aces. McKenzie Wilkie contributed 11 digs and Barrett distributed 13 assists.


In the loss to West Forsyth, Ejieke and Dufrene produced 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Huff finished with three blocks. Riley Jarrett contributed five aces. Barrett had 13 digs and 13 assists. Emma Wall totaled 14 assists.


Cartersville plays at Woodland on Tuesday to begin Region 7-4A action and will also face Dalton.
