Canes win first game of series with Woodland


Cartersville catcher Isaac McNair-Seigler doubled and drove in a run in the Hurricanes 11-0 win Tuesday night at Woodland.

Cartersville pitcher Caden Carroll struck out seven and allowed only one first inning single as the top-ranked Purple Hurricanes won at Woodland Tuesday night 11-0 in five innings.


The Canes scored three runs in the top of the first, four in the third, and added on late in the mercy rule shortened matchup.


Harrison Childers (double, four RBIs), Paul Gamble (double, two RBIs), Isaac McNair-Seigler (double, RBI), and Caleb Daniel (two doubles, RBI) had two hits each for the Hurricanes. Luke Miller (double, RBI), Trip Bradley (2 RBIs), and Miles Owen added one hit apiece.


Rowan Billings (2.1 IP, 5ER, 4H, 3BB, 5K) made the pitching start for Woodland and was tagged with the loss. Hunter Shirley (0.2 IP, 2ER, 2H, 2BB, 1K), Zach Lambert (1 IP, 1ER, 2H, 1K), and Coby Barrett (1 IP, 3ER, 3H, 1BB, 1K) also pitched for the Wildcats.


Woodland (8-8, 3-1) and Cartersville (12-2, 4-0) continue their three-game Region 7-5A series Thursday at Richard Bell Field and Friday back at Woodland. Both games are scheduled for 5:55 p.m. starts.
