Canes win at Trion; Cass teams and Lady Tigers drop contests

The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes improved to 2-0 Saturday with a win at Trion, while the Cass teams and Adairsville girls lost contests.



CARTERSVILLE BOYS 46, TRION 40


The Hurricanes rallied in the fourth quarter Saturday afternoon to win at Trion, 46-40.


The Bulldogs led 13-10 after one quarter, 21-18 at the intermission, and 32-31 after three quarters before the Canes outscored Trion 15-8 over the final eight minutes.


Nas Bennett led the scoring for Cartersville with 14 points. Shakai Taylor and Jake Johnson added eight.


Sam Mobbs scored 21 for Trion (0-1).


Cartersville (2-0) returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Dalton.




CENTRAL-CARROLL 58, CASS GIRLS 28


The Cass Lady Colonels lost 58-28 Saturday at Central-Carroll.


Cass trailed 28-17 at halftime, but the host Lady Lions extended their lead in the second half.


Riley Rainwater led Central (2-0) with 20 points.


KK Evans scored 15 for Cass. Cadie Paez added four.


Cass (1-3) faces Rome on Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the Adairsville Tournament.




ROME 39, ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 38


The Lady Tigers lost a four-quarter battle Saturday with visiting Rome in a 39-38 decision.


Adairsville trailed 8-6 after one quarter but led 26-24 at halftime in a close game. Rome carried a 34-32 lead into the fourth quarter and held on for a one-point win.


Miya Winston led the Lady Wolves (1-1) with 12 points. Grace Hunter added nine for Rome.


NaXyria Roberts led Adairsville with 13 points. Rihanna Crittenden scored 11.


The Lady Tigers (0-2) host Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe on Monday at 6 p.m.



CENTRAL-CARROLL 66, CASS BOYS 34


The Colonels fell behind early and did not recover in a 66-34 loss Saturday at Central-Carroll.


The host Lions led 22-8 after one quarter, 35-17 at halftime, and 52-26 through three quarters.


Chase North and Messiah Boykin led Central (2-0) with 16 and 15 points, respectively.


Jason Brown scored ten points for Cass. Dylan Miller added seven.


Cass (1-4) hosts Unity Christian School on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
