Canes volleyball splits Tuesday road matches

Cartersville volleyball split matches Tuesday night at Harrison High School, falling to the host Hoyas before defeating the Marist War Eagles.

Harrison topped the Lady Canes 25-22 and 25-16 in the Cartersville opener.


Lauren Lawson had nine kills and Ailee England followed with five. Lawson added two blocks and five digs. England finished with six digs and an assist. Lily Gochee contributed 17 assists.


In Cartersville’s 25-20, 25-20 win over Marist Lawson finished with seven kills, two aces, and three digs. England had six kills, two aces, one block, and seven digs. Tennessee Abernathy totaled five kills, three blocks, and two digs. Lily Gochee (5) and Mia Nicklas (7) combined for a dozen digs. Gochee added 18 assists.


Harrison improved to 9-9 on the season. Marist dropped to 6-13.


Cartersville (11-11) travels to Northwest Whitfield Thursday for a 5:30 start.



WOODLAND FALLS AT WOODSTOCK

Woodland volleyball fell in straight sets Tuesday night at Woodstock, 25-9 and 25-8.


The Lady Cats also lost in straight sets to North Paulding. (Set scores not available at time of release.)


Woodland (3-13-1) returns to action at home Thursday against Gordon Central.
