Canes rout Raiders to reach another 20-win season

The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes won both games of a doubleheader with visiting Southeast Whitfield Monday evening at Richard Bell Field with identical 15-0 scores.
The Canes won both games in only four innings, and the Raiders managed only one hit in the doubleheader.
Nolan Elrod (3 IP, 0R, 1H, 1BB, 6K) and Avery Shiflett (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1BB, 3K) blanked Southeast in the first game. Davis Waddell (2 IP, 0R, 0H, 1BB, 6K), Collier Jordan (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 2K), and Cole Crawford (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1BB, 3K) combined for a no-hitter in the second game.
Cameron Cochran (home run, double, four RBI) and Julez Pratt (home run, sac fly, three RBI) led the Hurricanes with three hits.
Crawford (four RBI), David Vargas (triple, three RBI), Thomas Peters (double, two RBI), Andrew Purdy (home run, two RBI), and Tristan McKibben (double) had two hits on Monday.
Gavin Renegar (two RBI), Brayden Logan (RBI), Casen Cochran (RBI), Jack Graves (double), Clint Hosea, and Cooper Graves added one hit. Asa Mitcham and Ben Cagle drove in one run.
Southeast Whitfield dropped to 4-23 overall and 1-17 in region play.
With Monday’s two wins, Cartersville improved to 20-7 overall and 16-2 in Region 7-AAAA. The Canes have also won at least 20 games in 28 of the past 29 seasons and can clinch a home playoff series in the first round of the state playoffs with at least one win against Dalton.
The Hurricanes travel to Dalton on Tuesday to begin a three-game series at 5:30 p.m. The regular season will conclude on Friday with a 5 p.m. doubleheader against the Catamounts.
