Bartow County Little League softball teams advance at state tourneys


Bartow County Little League 12U and 10U softball teams split games over the weekend at their respective double-elimination state tournaments. Both tournaments are being hosted by Warner Robins American Little League.


Bartow County 12U lost its opening game Saturday to Dudley Little League 19-4 before bouncing back Sunday with a 16-6 win over West Point Little League.


Bartow 12U plays an elimination game Monday night at 8 p.m. against Harris County Little League.


Bartow County 10U defeated Dudley Little League 5-3 in the opening round, but dropped a 6-5 decision in seven innings Sunday to Hart County Little League.


Bartow 10U plays an elimination game Monday night at 6 p.m. against Oconee County Little League.


12U BARTOW 16, WEST POINT 6


Bartow County 12U softball trailed 3-2 after the first inning Sunday but scored seven runs in the second inning and six more in the third to take control of the game in a 16-6 win over West Point.


Rilyn Caspari was the starting pitcher and winner in the circle for Bartow. Brooke Holmes led the Bartow offense by reaching base all four times with a home run, a single, a walk, and reached on an error. Tinsley Evans contributed a double while Avaree Sellers and Lilly Hollis added one hit each.


DUDLEY 19, 12U BARTOW 4 Bartow 12U fell behind early and managed their only four runs in the third inning on their only hits in the contest.


Lilly Hollis and Tinsley Evans had doubles. Brooke Holmes also added one hit.


10U BARTOW 5, DUDLEY 3


10U Bartow Little League softball managed only two hits in their state tournament opener but held off Dudley Little League 5-3. Khloe Shinall and Madison Brookshire had the Bartow base hits. The team also took advantage of six walks


The locals scored a single run in the second inning, added two runs in the third, and two more runs in the fifth inning.


HART COUNTY 6, 10U BARTOW 5 (7 innings)


The Bartow County 10U Little League softball team lost an extra inning battle with Hart County Sunday in the second round of the 2022 Georgia State Tournament in Warner Robins.


The loss spoiled a strong six inning pitching performance by Jayda White. She struck out 14 in the first six frames but was forced to leave the pitching circle for the seventh inning by Little League rules.


The two teams matched one another with five hits each.


Ansley Tummins led Bartow 10U with a pair of hits. Jayda White contributed a double. Khloe Shinall and Madison Brookshire added one hit apiece.
