August 2022 Elite Athletes of the Month
Elite Stone Supply, in conjunction with WBHF and Bartow Sports Zone, presents the ELITE ATHLETES OF THE MONTH. Each month, local high schools are provided the opportunity to name an Elite Athlete of the Month from their varsity programs and present the information on their honoree through Bartow Sports Zone and on 100.3FM and AM1450, WBHF in Cartersville.
The August Elite Athlete of the Month representing Cartersville High School is Jordan Bishop.
She is the daughter of Kamila and Jerry Bishop. A sophomore catcher on the Lady Canes’ softball team, Bishop has a .519 batting average with two home runs and seven RBIs through her team’s first ten games. She also has five stolen bases.
“Jordan plays at such a high level right now,” said Cartersville softball coach Glen Woodard. “She has shown improvement from her freshman year to now.
Taylor Evans is the August Elite Athlete of the Month for Adairsville High School. A sophomore shortstop on the Lady Tigers’ softball team, she is the daughter of Carlos and Erin Evans.
“Taylor leads by example,” said Adairsville softball head coach Amanda Nelson. “She is a great teammate and works hard. Her attitude can be seen and heard anytime our team is preparing or competing. Taylor helps those around her, genuinely wants others to succeed and keeps the energy and positivity vibing. Her leadership is a difference-maker and I’m glad she’s a Tiger,” concluded Nelson.
Evans has a 4.0 GPA while taking Honors and Advanced Placement courses in the medical field magnet program.
The Cass High School Elite Athlete of the Month for August is Ansley Hight.
Hight is the daughter of Adam and Lori Hight. She has opened her senior softball season hitting .560 with 19 RBIs and 5 homeruns in her first nine games.
She has committed to continue her academic and athletic career at Southern Mississippi where she will compete in Conference USA with the Golden Eagles.
Hight currently carries a 3.5 GPA.
Kwadrus Wilson represents Woodland High School as the August Elite Athlete of the Month.
A three-sport junior athlete and football captain, Wilson is the son of Derrick Wilson and Lashic Young.
“Kwadrus is the epitome of what we’re trying to build our football team on,” said Wildcats head football coach Brandon Haywood. “His consistency and personality is contagious and vital to our team’s success. To know Kwad is to love him! He’s one of the best people I’ve had the privilege to coach.”
Wilson is a defensive lineman, wrestles in the 285 weight class, and is a catcher with the baseball team.
He is undecided with his future academic plans but hopes to play college football.
