Adairsville soccer teams win at Mt. Zion-Carroll
The Adairsville Tigers boys soccer team earned its first win of the season Wednesday at Mt. Zion-Carroll taking a 3-2 non-region victory.
Kyden Silverberg scored for the Tigers in the first half to help Adairsville to a 1-1 tie at halftime.
After falling behind 2-1, Arthur Leffler knotted the score at 2-2 with a goal on a penalty kick.
With approximately two minutes remaining, Blade Benefield scored the game-winner for the Tigers.
“We were sloppy at times,” said Adairsville coach John Terrell. “We are getting closer to being at full strength but still haven’t played a game with our full preseason starting lineup. Region play begins next week and we hope to have everyone back.”
The Tigers host Woodland Friday.
ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 6, MT. ZION-CARROLL 0
Lizzie LeMay scored a hat trick in the first 19 minutes Wednesday night at Mt. Zion-Carroll as the Lady Tigers cruised to a 6-0 win over the host Eagles.
Jordyn Hartline, Gabi Becerra, and Jacksyn Elrod each had an assist on the LeMay goals that were scored in the 10th, 11th, and 19th minutes of the first half.
Elrod gave Adairsville a 4-0 lead in the 36th minute off an assist from Becerra as the Lady Tigers carried the four-goal advantage to the halftime locker room.
In the second half, Victoria Loudon scored unassisted in the 57th minute and Jessica Hogue fed an assist to Annie McCormick for the Lady Tigers’ 6-0 lead in the 61st minute.
The Adairsville girls (4-1) host Woodland Friday night.
