Local teams drop Saturday contests

The Adairsville Lady Tigers and the Cass Colonels lost non-region basketball matchups on Saturday.
WOODSTOCK 70, ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 40
Cameron Schilichting scored 17 points and Lily Conkell added 13 to lead the Lady Wolverines in a 70-40 win over Adairsville at Cherokee High School.
Woodstock (1-1) led 15-6 after one quarter; 29-13 at halftime; and 51-26 after three quarters en route to a 30-point win.
NaXyria Roberts scored 14 points for the Lady Tigers. Chikondi Banda added six.
Adairsville (0-1) hosts Rome next Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
NORTH PAULDING 77, CASS BOYS 64
The Cass boys were outscored 22-9 in the second quarter Saturday afternoon and the deficit was too large to overcome in an eventual 77-64 loss at North Paulding.
The Colonels trailed 17-14 after the opening eight minutes before the Wolfpack built a 39-23 halftime advantage. North Paulding extended its lead in the third quarter to 59-38.
Jayden Mosley led the Wolfpack (1-0) with 23 points, including six three-pointers.
Comari Nettles led Cass with 20 points. Dylan Miller followed with 15. Jason Brown and Derrick Sams contributed ten and nine, respectively.
“We got down by too many,” noted Cass coach Kevin Cunningham. “The kids fought back in the second half but came up short. I’m proud of the effort.”
Cass (0-2) hosts Excel Christian Academy on Tuesday.
CAMPBELL 62, CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 42
Campbell broke open a close game in the second half Saturday afternoon to defeat the Cartersville girls 62-42.
Campbell (2-0) led 26-21 at halftime and pulled away in the second half for a 20-point win.
Gabrielle Parish and Saniya Binion led the Lady Spartans with 16 and 15 points, respectively.
Kaytlin Arnold scored 14 for Cartersville. Zoe McCurry added nine.
Cartersville (0-1) returns to Carrollton on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. matchup with the host Trojans.
