Adairsville falls in extra innings

Ringgold scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning Thursday night at Adairsville to complete a two-game, Region 6-AAA sweep in the battle of Tigers.


The visitors had leads of 1-0 in the top of the first and 4-1 through the first five innings, but Adairsville knotted the score at 4-4 with a three-run sixth inning.


From there, both teams went scoreless in the seventh and eighth innings before Ringgold posted their big ninth inning.


Braden Powell (5 IP, 4ER, 6H, 3BB, 3K) suffered the pitching loss for Adairsville in relief of starter Jack Whitley (3.1 IP, 4ER, 7H, 1BB, 2K). Dawson Craig (0.2 IP, 0R, 2H, 1K) retired the final two outs of the ninth inning.


Adairsville was out hit in the contest fifteen to four.


Evan Sanders (RBI), Tyler Driggers (2 RBIs), Landon O’Neal, and Craig had the Adairsville base hits.


Ringgold improved to 14-12 on the season and 9-3 in region play. Ringgold currently sits in a second place tie with Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe behind Rockmart in the Region 6-AAA standings.


Adairsville (9-12, 4-8) will try to bounce back Friday at home against LaFayette.
