Cartersville finishes 4A state runner-up, Woodland fifth in 5A
In 2018, the Cartersville competition cheer team narrowly defeated Denmark by one point for the Class AAAA state championship, so it was no surprise that the 2019 title came down to the Canes and Danes once again. This year the state title went to Denmark who won by five points over Cartersville, 92-87. The state runner-up finish for the Hurricanes was the best finish for a Bartow County squad at the GHSA State Championships in Columbus. Woodland won the Class AAAAA sectional title Friday night and finished fifth in the state finals Saturday. Adairsville, which won Region 6-AAA, competed in the state finals Saturday but did not place in the top six. Cass qualified for Friday's 16-team Class AAAAA state sectional, but did not advance to the finals on Saturday.
