Woodland Middle School boys win state XC title
Competing this past weekend in Bleckley County, the Woodland Middle School cross country teams captured a pair of state titles and a pair of third place finishes. The Woodland Middle boys and JV boys won their races while the girls team and JV girls team placed third.
The boys championship race featured 31 teams.
Kain Tanturri (15th, 12:26) and Zachary Wiggins (18th, 12:31) paced the Wildcats in their championship run. Landan McSwain (12:55), Kaiden Pirkle (13:07), Heath Tatum (13:10), Andy Forsyth (13:20), and Rowan Lee (13:44) rounded out the Woodland boys in the championship race.
Woodland's Michael Berry won the JV boys’ race with a time of 13:24. Cam Williams placed second with a time of 13:35.
Every JV boy earned a medal: Noah Vincent (6th, 13:51), Austin Daves (8th, 13:52), Jacob McDaniel (10th, 14:01), Knox Koontz (12th, 14:05), Will Parker (16th, 14:17), Grayson Moore (18th, 14:20) and Gavin Hubbard (24th, 14:40).
Olivia Berry (19th, 14:16) led the Woodland Middle girls in the championship girls race. Autumn Lottner (14:58), Megan Schultz (15:00), Miranda Pelow (15:02), Teagan Bollwerk (15:23), and Bailee Motes (15:47) followed for the Lady ‘Cats, who finished third of 27 teams.
Libby Morgan (14th, 16:52) and Lily Hiott (15th, 16:54) led the Woodland Middle JV girls to a third-place finish.
Katelyn Thayer and Trinity Bowley both finished in 16:58, followed by Kiera Pedigo (17:05), and Ka’Rynne McKenney (17:36).
