Youth football update: Bartow County Panthers win three of four Saturday
The Bartow County Panthers youth football teams won three of four games Saturday in Northwest Georgia Youth Football League action played at both Earl Cunningham Stadium on the Old Cass High School campus and in Covington.

12U Bartow County Panthers 47, West Georgia Eagles 0
The 12U Bartow County Panthers ran for three touchdowns and passed for three touchdowns in a 47-0 win Saturday over the West Georgia Eagles at Earl Cunningham Stadium at Old Cass High. Isaiah Livsey was the Panthers leading rusher on the day, totaling 54 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown. Through the air, Brodie McWhorter was 5-for-11 for 142 yards and two touchdowns.
Keve Porter added 36 yards and a touchdown on three rushing attempts. Jacob Ellis had 26 yards on three carries. Jachai Delgado rushed three times for 23 yards and McWhorter added a touchdown on three rushing attempts.
Talan Nix caught three passes for 96 yards and a touchdown. Logan Shrewsbury hauled in a pair of catches for 46 yards and a touchdown, while Delgado added a 20 yard touchdown catch from Cooper Moon.
The Bartow County defense limited West Georgia to only two first downs and 25 yards of total offense in the game — all on the ground. The Eagles attempted only three passes and one was intercepted by Porter.
Additionally, the Panthers’ defense scored with a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown by Nix.
Delgado led the locals’ defense with seven tackles. Nix finished with 4.5 tackles and broke up a pair of passes in addition to his forced fumble, scoop, and score. Livsey had three tackles.
Others in the defensive stat column for Bartow include: Porter with 2.5 tackles, a fumble forced, a fumble recovered, and an interception; Kelson Mitchell had 2.5 tackles and recovered a fumble; Jacob Ellis made 2.5 tackles; Shrewsbury made two tackles and recovered a fumble; Moon was credited with 1.5 tackles; Mason Tompkins and Brodie McWhorter had one tackle each; Xavier Parker, Bear McWhorter, and Bryce Wilson added 0.5 tackles each with Wilson also recovering a fumble.
“The numbers pretty much tell the story,” said Bartow County Panthers coach Jackson Hyde. “We had some key players out, but still played our most complete game of the year.”
The 12U Bartow Panthers (6-0, 4-0 Northwest Georgia Youth Football League) play a pair of games next weekend. They will host the Marietta Cardinals Saturday in a NWGYFL game at 4 p.m. at Cochran Stadium on the campus of Cass High School. On Sunday, they will square off against South Fulton in a non-league game at 7 p.m. in Acworth.

10U Bartow County Panthers 32, North Georgia Cowboys 6
The 10U Bartow County Panthers cruised past the North Georgia Cowboys Saturday 32-6 in Covington.
Grayson Warmack and Jake Orton scored two touchdowns each to help lead the 10U Panthers. Orton scored on a 10 yard touchdown run and scored on a 50 yard scoop and score fumble recovery following a sack by Jorian Bailey. Warmack scored on a 10 yard touchdown run and completed a 25 yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Dent. Demarcus Ballenger posted an eight yard touchdown run and Clay Hilburn stripped the ball from an opposing runner on a kickoff return, recovered it and ran 45 yards for a Panthers touchdown. Lawson Weeks contributed with an extra point run. Eli Simmons and Jeremy Dent recorded fumble recoveries for the Bartow defense.
