Montgomery named head baseball coach at Woodland
Woodland High School Director of Athletics John Howard announced this week that interim baseball coach Matt Montgomery has been elevated to full-time head coach of the Wildcats. Montgomery — a 2001 graduate of Cartersville High School — served as interim head coach for Woodland the final two months of the 2019 season following the removal of Colby Coursey. He served as an assistant for the Wildcats after previous coaching stints at Morgan County, North Paulding, Cartersville, and Pepperell. As head coach at Pepperell, he led the Dragons to the GHSA Class AA state playoffs in 2016. Woodland High School will host a meet and greet event with Montgomery next Tuesday (May 21) at 6 p.m. in the WHS cafeteria.
