Tigers bounced in opening round

The Adairsville boys tennis team, appearing in the state tournament for the first time since 2014, was eliminated Monday by Greater Atlanta Christian in the opening round of the Class AAA bracket. GAC, Region 7-AAA champs, won all five lines in straight sets to advance to the Round of 16. The Spartans will face the Westminster/Jackson County winner in Round 2.
Adairsville was represented by its standard lineup of Jack Bates, Cameron O’Neal, and Oak Hemby at Line 1-3 singles. Landon Swanson and Cody Kimbrough played Line 1 doubles with Zach Ogle and Tristin Alford representing the Tigers at Line 2 doubles. Adairsville, a four-seed from Region 6-AAA finished the regular season 6-5, went 1-2 in the region tournament, and finished the post season with a 7-8 mark.
