Soccer roundup: Adairsville girls win at Trion
The Adairsville Lady Tigers picked up a non-region road victory Thursday night at Trion, winning 4-1. Cat Wheeler scored two goals for Adairsville with Sadye Johnson and Taylor Rhoades added the other goals. Hannah Deboard assisted Johnson in the third minute to give Adairsville a 1-0 lead. Wheeler made the score 2-0 just six minutes later off a feed from Rhoades. Wheeler found the back of the net again in the 15th minute off an assist from Skye Hancock, and Rhoades scored her goal off an assist from Elllie McBride in the 53rd minute for a Lady Tigers’ 4-0 lead. Trion scored in the 60th minute for the 4-1 final score. Adairsville keeper Havyn Isaac had four saves.
The Lady Tigers (10-2-1) are scheduled to host Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe next Tuesday and visit Calhoun next Thursday.
TRION 1, ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 0 Trion scored the game’s only goal early in the first half and made it stand up to edge visiting Adairsville Thursday night 1-0 in a non-region contest. The Tigers hammered the Bulldogs with 17 shots on goal, but the Trion defense and keeper were up to the task and preserved the shutout. Trion improved to 5-3-1 for the season. Adairsville keeper Tyrek Bryant had a strong night with 15 saves on the back end of the Tigers’ defense. Adairsville (2-10) hosts Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Tuesday evening.
NORTH SPRINGS 3, CASS GIRLS 1
The Lady Colonels dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting North Springs Thursday night in non-region action at Doug Cochran Stadium. The only Cass goal was by University of North Georgia signee, Logan Vermaas (photo), who scored off a Maddie Shook corner kick. North Springs improved to 7-5-1 with their win. Cass (7-8-1) hosts Heritage-Catoosa next Tuesday and travels to Coahulla Creek next Thursday to wrap up the regular season.
