Wildcats drop third straight
The Woodland baseball team lost its third straight game Wednesday, falling to South Warren (KY) by a 13-4 final score at the Pine Forest Beach Blast Invitational near Pensacola, Florida.
Playing as the home team, the Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning but fell behind 5-1 before narrowing the margin to 5-4 in the fourth inning.
The Spartans from Bowling Green scored twice in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 7-4 and added six more in the seventh inning. Woodland posted a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh on a Spartans’ error for the 13-6 final score.
Tyler Martin, Mason Day, and A.J. Isable combined for nine of the Spartans 13 hits and compiled nine RBI to lead the South Warren offense.
Bailey Ward (double, RBI) and Koby Stansel finished with two hits each for Woodland. Drew Billings had a hit and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Toby Queen and Ben Ammons had the other Wildcats’ hits.
Woodland (10-12) wraps up their trip to the Florida tournament with a final game on Thursday.
