Big inning topples Chargers at South Georgia


Nine runs by South Georgia State in the third inning Friday night was a severe enough blow to hold off visiting Georgia Highlands, 10-5.


The Chargers led 2-0 early, but the big third inning game South Georgia State a 10-2 lead that proved to be insurmountable. Georgia Highlands added a single run in the sixth inning and two more in the eighth for the 10-5 final score. Both teams finished with seven hits.


Parker Orr and Malik Spratling both hit solo home runs for the Chargers in the loss. Willis Kemp doubled and had one RBI. Alex Marquand (RBI), Skylar McPhee, Hunter Moody, and Bryson Horne had one hit apiece for Georgia Highlands. Brant Brown (2.1 IP, 7R, 6ER, 2BB, 3K) suffered the pitching loss. Dalton Rhadans (5.2 IP, 3R, 2ER, 3H, 0BB, 4K) completed the game on the mound for GHC after entering in the third inning. Georgia Highlands (19-14, 7-7) plays a doubleheader at South Georgia (16-16, 6-7) Saturday.
