Carrollton pitchers shutout Woodland


Three Carrollton pitchers combined to blank Woodland Monday night in a Region 7-AAAAA contest, 4-0. Samuel Simpson, Colton Casper, and Eli Runyan combined to scatter four hits and two walks while recording 13 total strikeouts.


Carrollton scored three runs in the top of the third inning and added an insurance run in the fifth for their victory.


Ryan Anderson paced the Trojans at the plate with two hits including a double and two RBI. Grayson Udombon also had a pair of hits and added one RBI. Four other Carrollton players had one hit each.


Dallas Adams had two of Woodland’s four hits. Koby Stansel and Scotty Smith added one hit apiece.


Trent Porter (2.2 IP, 3R, 2ER, 6H, 2BB, 2K) started on the mound for the Wildcats and took the loss. Smith (4.1 IP, 1ER, 4H, 0BB, 3K) pitched in relief.


The win completed a two-game series sweep for Carrollton (15-4, 6-2). The Trojans won last Thursday's matchup in Carrollton, 15-0.


Woodland (9-8, 5-5) is scheduled to host Villa Rica Wednesday at 5:55 p.m. and complete the two-game region set Friday at Villa Rica.
