Lady Tigers stay unbeaten in region
The Adairsville girls defeated visiting North Murray 4-1 Tuesday evening in Tiger Valley, but the Adairsville boys fell by the same 4-1 score.
The Lady Tigers opened the scoring with a goal by Kaylee Jordan off an assist from Cat Wheeler, but North Murray knotted the score 1-1 two minutes later. From there, Wheeler scored two goals and assisted Taylor Rhoades on a goal as Adairsville pulled away for a 4-1 Region 6-AAA win. Wheeler’s first goal came in the 21st minute to give the Lady Tigers a 2-1 edge at halftime. Rhoades score came in the 50th minute and Wheeler finished off the scoring in the 61st minute.
Adairsville coach David Sexauer credited the play of Megan Hardin as a dominant force for the Lady Tigers in the midfield. Keeper Havyn Isaac finished with seven saves.
The Adairsville girls (7-2-1, 5-0) play at Ringgold Thursday at 5 p.m.
NORTH MURRAY 4, ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 1
Joseph Pacheco scored the Tigers’ goal to tie the score 1-1 in the first half. The goal came off a throw in from Angel Banda.
The visiting Mountaineers then took a 2-1 lead in the 38th minute and held that advantage at the intermission.
The two North Murray goals in the second half came off a penalty kick and a nice cross finished on the back side of the Tigers’ defense. Adairsville keeper Tyrek Bryant finished the night with 28 saves. The Tigers travel to Ringgold Thursday for a 7 p.m. start.
