Woodland soccer teams sweep Hiram
The Woodland girls soccer team earned a Region 7-AAAAA victory Friday night at home defeating Hiram, 7-2, and the boys team followed with a 4-2 win over the Hornets. Tiera Feanny scored a pair of first half goals and Maddi Moore added a third for the Lady Cats in the first half as Woodland carried a 3-1 advantage to the intermission. In the second half, Jordan Evans scored two goals for Woodland while Hayley Gilbert and Kiersten Iruegas also found the back of the net as the Lady Cats took a 7-1 lead. Hiram added a second goal with 7:34 remaining for the 7-2 final score. Woodland starting keeper Chloe Ravish had five saves. Sheena Buchanan made three saves after entering midway through the second half. In the boys' game, Orlando Mendoza put Woodland on the scoreboard in the 16th minute. Jose Pineda and Rene Vazquez added first half goals in the 29th and 32nd minutes. Preston Godfrey added the Wildcats' fourth goal in the second half.
The Lady Cats (1-4-1, 1-0 Region 7-AAAAA) and Wildcats (1-1-1, 1-0) play at Kell Tuesday and host Cass Friday.
