BCRD 8U girls down Rome to reach GRPA District finals
The Bartow County 8U girls all-star team turned up their defensive effort in the second quarter Monday night and went on to defeat Rome 30-20 in the GRPA District 5 semifinals at Edwards Park in Dalton. As a result, Bartow 8U will play Whitfield County Wednesday night at 6:15 p.m. for the district title. That game will also be played at Edwards Park. Rome led 7-4 after one quarter, but Bartow 8U blanked them in the second quarter to lead 12-7 at halftime. Bartow went on to take a 24-11 lead after three periods and held on for a 10-point win. Rakhia Pace led Bartow with 16 points. Lindsey Chubb, Lilli Wear, and Layla Whitener tossed in four points each. Reese Gibson added two points.
ROME 32, BARTOW 10U GIRLS The Bartow County 10U girls lost a semifinal game to Rome 32-23 Monday night at Edwards Park in Whitfield County. Rome held an 11-8 lead after one quarter and was ahead 19-12 at the intermission. They maintained a 24-17 advantage after three periods.
Samantha Gough paced Bartow 10U with nine points. Kaytlin Arnold followed with six points. Nakayla Evans scored three. Alivia Joslin and Haley Collum contributed two points apiece. Rihanna Crittenden added one point.
POWDER SPRINGS 64, BARTOW 14U BOYS 41
The Bartow County 14U boys team lost to host Powder Springs Monday night in the GRPA District 5 championship game to finish as tournament runner-up. Rodrick Taylor led Bartow with 13 points. Nehemiah DeRoche and Jadas Whatley followed with 12 points apiece. Bryce Waynick knocked down eight points. Isaiah Ford totaled six and Shamar Burgs added two points.
ROME 55, CARTERSVILLE 12U BOYS 36
The Cartersville 12U boys all-stars fell to Rome 55-36 Monday night in the GRPA District 5 quarterfinals at LakePoint Champions Center.
POWDER SPRINGS 78, BARTOW COUNTY 26
The Powder Springs 12U boys took a dominant win over Bartow County Monday night in the GRPA District 5 quarterfinals, 78-26. Powder Springs will face Rome in the semifinals at LakePoint Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.
