Three BCRD youth all-star teams advance in GRPA district action
Three of the four Bartow County Parks and Recreation youth basketball all-star teams in action Saturday came away with opening round wins at their respective tournaments. The Bartow 10U girls, Bartow 12U girls, and the Bartow Blue 10U boys were all victorious and advanced in their Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District 5 tournaments.
BARTOW 10U GIRLS 33, DALTON 13 Playing at Edwards Park in Whitfield County Saturday afternoon, the Bartow 10U girls controlled the contest throughout in a 33-13 GRPA District 5 tournament win over Dalton. Bartow 10U girls led 6-0 after one quarter, 16-5 at halftime, and 31-9 through three quarters.
Kaytlin Arnold paced Bartow’s balanced scoring attack with nine points. Samantha Gough followed with seven. Alivia Joslin and Rihanna Crittenden tallied four points each. Nakayla Evans, Lakiaya Banks, and Haley Collum added three points apiece.
Bartow will now face Rome in the tournament semifinals Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at Edwards Park in Whitfield County. The winner will play in the district title game Wednesday nightat 7:30 p.m. BARTOW 12U GIRLS 39, DALTON 10 The Bartow 12U girls grabbed a 16-2 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 39-10 victory over Dalton in the semifinals of the District 5 GRPA tournament in Whitfield County. Bartow 12U led 27-7 at halftime and 33-8 after three quarters on their way to a 29-point win. Taff Bradley led Bartow with 18 points. Hayley Dillow followed with 12 points. Jakya Garnigan scored four. Kelsey Gleason and Summer Patterson finished with two points each. Kylie Perine added one point.
Bartow 12U girls advance to the district title game Wednesday against host Whitfield County at Edwards Park in Dalton at 6:15 p.m. Whitfield County beat Rome 40-17 in the other semifinal game Saturday.
BARTOW BLUE 10U BOYS 53, CARTERSVILLE 13
Bartow Blue 10U raced to an early 18-5 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in their opening round win in the district tournament Saturday at the Houston Suggs Youth Facility at Hamilton Crossing Park. Bartow Blue, who was led in scoring by Jakez Baldwin and Christian Teasley with 16 points apiece, advances to play Paulding County in the second round Tuesday at the Champions Center at LakePoint. Paulding had an opening round bye.

ROME-FLOYD 10U BOYS 39, BARTOW WHITE 36 Bartow White 10U fell to Rome-Floyd County Saturday in a nip-and-tuck district tournament opener at the Houston Suggs Youth Facility at Hamilton Crossing Park, 39-36. Bartow White was paced by Jaylon Watkins 11 points. Joshua Love and Rowan Lee added eight and six points, respectively.
