Elite Athletes of the Month for November 2018
Elite Stone Supply, in conjunction with WBHF and Bartow Sports Zone, presents the ELITE ATHLETES OF THE MONTH.
Each month, local high schools are provided opportunity to name an Elite Athlete of the Month from their varsity programs and present the information on their honoree through Bartow Sports Zone and on 100.3FM and AM1450, WBHF in Cartersville.
Recipients for November 2018:
Amber Brittian, Cass HS A'mya Davis, Cartersville HS
Caleb Henson, Woodland HS Kalil Holley, Excel Christian Academy Coriana McDaniel, Adairsville HS
The November Elite Athlete of the Month representing Cass High School is Amber Brittian. Brittian is a starting point guard for the Lady Colonels’ basketball team and one of the team’s captains. She is currently averaging 11 points, eight rebounds, and six assists during the early portion of the 2018-19 season. Brittian is recognized for her displays of true leadership. She is a dedicated athlete and has the determination to excel according to her coaches. She is constantly encouraging her teammates and always has a positive attitude. Brittian also excels in the classroom where she has maintained a 4.0 grade point average. She is the daughter of Ted and Ollie Brittian.
A’mya Davis is the Cartersville High School November Elite Athlete of the Month. A senior on the Lady Canes’ basketball team, Davis is a three-year starter at point guard. The daughter of Caretta Fezzia and Tyrone Davis, A’mya is averaging over nine points per game as Cartersville has started the season, 3-0. “Mya is a great role model,” said Lady Canes’ head coach Cindy Moore. “She works hard every day and encourages her teammates to bring their best. She is a vocal leader and pushes our entire team toward improvement every day.”
Davis is a Gate Key Scholar and plans to go into nursing or some aspect of the medical field after high school graduation.
Caleb Henson is the Woodland High School November Elite Athlete of the Month.
The son of Dave and Tai Henson, Caleb is a freshman on the Wildcats’ wrestling team. Henson recently placed sixth at the Super 32 Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina and became the first freshman to receive All-American recognition at this prestigious event. The Woodland wrestling season is in its early stages, but Henson remains undefeated in the 126-pound weight class.
The November Elite Athlete of the Month for Excel Christian Academy is Kalil Holley.
A sophomore, combo-guard on the Eagles’ basketball team, Holley posted 17 points, eight rebounds, and three assists as ECA won its season opener.
“Kalil has worked so hard this summer to improe his conditioning and his game,” said Excel boys coach and athletic director Shannon Boatfield. “The results speak for themselves. He has grown into one of the key cogs in our team.” Holley is the son of Sebastian and Sincerely Holley.
Adairsville High School’s November Elite Athlete of the Month is Coriana McDaniel. The daughter of Dana and Corey McDaniel, she is a senior guard for the Lady Tigers’ basketball team.
McDaniel earned Northwest Georgia Tip-Off Club athlete of the month last year for Adarisville as a junior and this season has been one of the Lady Tigers’ true leaders. She has averaged better than eight points per game and is recognized for her leadership by example.
“Coriana is a good, character kid who never complains,” said Adairsville girls’ basketball head coach Michael Roberson. “She accepts constructive criticism from her coaches and tries to make those changes. Her work ethic is excellent and she pushes herself daily at practices.”
McDaniel has earned her pharmacy tech certificate and sports medicine certificate while attending the Bartow County College and Career Academy. She plans to attend college and earn a degree in physical therapy. “Our younger players look to her as an example,” continued Roberson. “Her consistent hard work on a daily basis is exactly what we want from all players in our program.”
