Canes top Marist to reach third state finals in four seasons
The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes earned a third trip to the state championship game in the past four years Friday night with a come-from-behind, 17-14 home semifinal victory over Marist.
The Canes' defense rose up again on multiple key possessions as Cartersville survived a game the offense turned the ball over four times.
Two of the four turnovers resulted in Marist taking a halftime lead, but a pair of defensive stops following turnovers made the difference for the Purple Hurricanes.
